LAS VEGAS (April 14, 2015) – DTS (Nasdaq: DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio enhancement technologies, and Scenarist, LLC, the developer of Hollywood-standard professional Blu-ray Disc authoring systems, have announced a technology integration and distribution partnership to include the DTS:X Encoder and the DTS BD Digital Bridge Tool Suite with the latest version of Scenarist BD Professional authoring software. Scenarist will also integrate the Digital Bridge Tools functionality into its Scenarist UHD system being developed to support Ultra HD Blu-ray.
Combined with Scenarist authoring systems, the DTS innovations will enable an unprecedented level of immersion, flexibility, and interactivity in Blu-ray titles. As the successor to the DTS-HD Master Audio Suite, the DTS:X Encoder delivers the ability to create both legacy DTS-HD and next-generation DTS:X audio bitstreams. DTS:X captures the experience of true 3-D cinema sound for the home through the use of object-based audio technology.
Digital Bridge, a new feature included in the format extensions announced by the Blu-ray Disc Association in 2014, will enable end-users to legitimately export Blu-ray Disc and Ultra HD Blu-ray content to secure storage devices such as hard discs, thumb-drives and other electronic formats. The DTS BD Digital Bridge Tool Suite that will be integrated with Scenarist authoring systems facilitates the production process necessary to enable this feature.
“We are delighted to be partnering with DTS to bring their exceptional content capabilities to Scenarist systems,” said Christopher Neely, managing partner of Scenarist, LLC. “Professional authors have been using Scenarist since 1995 to create Hollywood’s most innovative and exciting DVD and BD titles. Integrating DTS technology means that Scenarist authors will continue to have the broadest range of tools available for many years to come.”
“Our DTS:X and Digital Bridge technologies bring exciting new ways for consumers to enjoy the best possible entertainment experiences,” said Mark Johnson, vice president of streaming and media solutions at DTS. “Our distribution partnership with Scenarist will ensure that the global content authoring community will have access to these technologies for enhancing both legacy and next-generation Blu-ray Discs.”
